1) Deterioration in Memory
Research has shown that sleep plays a key role in preserving memory. Not getting enough sleep affects the brain’s ability to recall certain things especially if they are recently learned.
2) Gaining Weight
Research has suggested that inadequate sleep decreases the level of Leptin, a hormone that suppresses hunger. You may find yourself eating more to satisfy your hunger during the day and gaining weight overtime.
3) Increased Risk of Disease
Your risk of getting diseases like breast cancer and heart attack could be increase. This is due to the fact that a deprivation of sleep causes estrogen and cortisol levels to rise- which increases your risk of contracting these diseases.
The amount of sleep needed may differ for every individual; however experts say that most people need between seven to nine hours of sleep.
